Actress Kelly Preston and Wife of John Travolta Lost Life to Breast Cancer

Popular actress Kelly Preston lost her 2-year old battle with breast cancer and left the world on July 12. Actor John Travolta, her husband, took to his Instagram to post the sad news. Preston was 57 years old at the time of death. Travolta said that his wife was struggling for the past two years, and she fought the battle with incredible courage. She also had the support and love of several people, including her family.

He took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to all the doctors and staff who were by the side of Preston and were treating her all this time. She spent her last days receiving medical treatment for breast cancer in the MD Anderson Cancer Center. While it is a heartbreaking moment for the family, and Kelly’s friends, Travolta says that Kelly’s life and love will be unforgettable forever.

Kelly Preston’s decision of staying away from public

As a part of an exclusive interview conducted by The People, a representative of the family chose to speak. The person confirmed that Kelly passed away on July 12, in the morning. The rep added that keeping her ailment private was her personal choice. However, she was under medical treatment for quite some time, and all the closest people in her life stood strong by her throughout the battle.

There is not a single public photograph of Kelly Preston after an event back in 2018. Back in June that year, she along with her husband John Travolta walked the red carpet as a part of their film’s promotion. It was the premiere of the film ‘Gotti.’ In it, Travolta portrayed the character of John Gotti, the late mobster, and Kelly played the role of Victoria Gotti, his wife. So, it can be assumed that she started treatment right after this, and did not want to come out in public.

The early life of Kelly Preston 

Preston was born as Kelly Kamalelehua Smith in Honolulu and completed her acting course at the University of Southern California. After, that as a beginner, she started bagging smaller roles in TV shows. Two of her very first appearances on TV were when she played small roles in Roseanne and CHiPs. Her talent made her popular, and finally, she landed a substantial role of Mary Lee in the short TV series called “For Love and Honor.” 

Later, she was noticed by bigger directors who cast her as Marnie Mason opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the romantic comedy “Twins.” The film also starred Danny DeVito in a vital role. It was in the same year in 1988 when she met with john Travolta while they both appeared for an audition for the film “The Experts.”

Fond memories of Kelly and John

Back in 2018, Kelly Preston shared fond memories of her wedding with Travolta in Paris on the “Live with Kelly and Ryan” show. She said that the pressure of marriage was so much on the couple that they escaped to Paris in 1991, and decided to get married there. It was after their New York wedding plans were becoming constantly unmanageable, and she was about to give up. However, the couple discovered that they had to become citizens 0f Paris to get married there. So, finally, the couple decided to continue with the ceremony at a stateside location. Kelly’s first marriage was with famous actor Kevin Gage, that lasted for just two years from 1985 to 1987. Apart from this, she had short-term relationships with Charlie Sheen and George Clooney.

Some of Kelly Preston’s best works were in “For Love of the Game,” and “Jerry Maguire.” Back in 1992, Kelly gave birth to her first child with Travolta and named him Jett. However, the kid passed away from a seizure in 2009, during a family vacation in the Bahamas. Kelly and Travolta have two other children- Ella, born in 2000, and Benjamin in 2010. In a throwback interview, Travolta announced that Kelly was expecting her third child when she was 48 after they were trying to conceive for three long years. After the birth of Benjamin, she started taking up lesser movies to give more time to her family. Both Travolta and Preston were two of the most high-profile members of the Scientology Church. Recently they spoke about their marriage, the loss of a child, and how the church helped them in all the tough situations.

Tribute from the family

In light of the heartbreaking incident of Kelly’s death, daughter Ella posted a heat-whelming note on Instagram. She says that her mother was the most courageous, beautiful, strong, and loving person. Anybody who has seen Kelly and been in her presence will agree to the fact that she had the ability, shine, and glow to make people around her happy. Ella thanked her mama for making her life beautiful, and supporting her in all that she does, and said that she loved will love her always.

In Travolta’s post, he ended by announcing that he will take some time off from everything to be with the children who have just lost their mother. He also apologized in advance because he will be absent for quite some time now. However, he mentioned that everyone’s support and love will help them heal in the upcoming weeks.
