Naya Rivera’s body was rescued from Lake Piru on July 13. Sheriff Bill Ayub had stated that he was confident that the body would be found on that day. He also mentioned that there was no act on foul play or attempt of suicide. According to him, it was just a tragic case of accidental drowning.
After the body was discovered, Ayub reported that she was found on the northeast portion of the lake, close to the surface of the water. Her body was to be later taken to Ventura County Medical Examiner’s officer for autopsy and identification.
The sheriff reported that investigators had to make FaceTime calls to the family of Naya Rivera to get details about her that helped them in the search. They also did thorough research from the person she rented the boat from as he met him before she went missing.
Ayub reported that they also had to ask questions to Naya’s son. The two had gone for a swim and she was able to put him back on the boat. However, when he turned around, he couldn’t find her. The current was strong on the day when Naya Rivera went missing. The Sheriff said that it could be the reason that led to her drowning. He also said that the boat was not anchored when she had gone for the swim. Naya’s family members were taken on a boat to see her after her body was found.
On July 13, at 2 pm the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department held a press conference in order to report about Naya Rivera’s body. However, they were unsure if any friend or family member were willing to speak.
Glee cast reunite for Naya Rivera
As soon as Naya’s Glee co-stars got to know about her discovery, they all gathered at Lake Piru. They came together and stood shoulder to shoulder with the actress’s family members. They held hands and looked out towards the water.
An eerie fact pointed out by netizens was that Cory Monteith, the lead of the show Glee had died on the same day Naya’s body was found – July 13. He had lost his life due to a deadly cocktail intoxication, which includes alcohol and heroin.

Naya Rivera started her journey into the industry as a model and actress when she was a child. She appeared in several TV commercials and her face was popular. She got the character of Hillary Winston on “The Royal Family” when she was only four years old. Naya was also nominated for Young Artist Award for the same.
Naya got her big break in 2009 for playing Santana Lopez on Glee. It was one of the most successful shows of Fox. Naya was also a good singer and signed with Columbia Records in 2011. The same year, Naya was nominated for Grammy for Best Pop Performance for Don’t Stop Believin’.
In 2013, Naya signed a song Sorry feat. Big Sean. She also dated him for a brief span of time but they separated in 2014. Later Naya married Ryan Dorsey in Cabo San Lucas but they too called it off in 2018. They have a child from the marriage, who is Josey.
Naya was also a part of the big screen as she debuted with horror movie At the Devil’s Door in 2014. She also did a short role in Devious Maids.
