John Noakes’s Early life, Childhood, and Education

John Noakes was born on March 6, 1934, in Shelf, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. He was born as John W. Bottomley to Sallie Hinchcliffe and Arthur W. Bottomley. He was educated at Rishworth School where he exceeded expectations in crosscountry running and gymnastics. His folks separated when he was nine and he went to live with his grandmother. At 16 he joined the RAF as a workman. The next year, his mom wedded Canadian trumpeter Alfie Noakes and took his surname.

In the RAF Noakes prepared as a flying machine motor fitter and in this way worked for BOAC, before choosing to wind up noticeably an on-screen character.
