- Denis was born into a middle-class religious family of 11 membrii.
- În copilărie, he used to visit sick people with his pastor father, which inspired him to become a doctor.
- After completing his degree in medicine in Burundi, he started practising at a Christian Hospital in Lemera, South Kivu.
- While working as a paediatrician, he saw various cases where women were suffering from pain and complications after birth, which inspired him to travel to France to study gynaecology and obstetrics.
- În 1999, he founded the Panzi Hospital in Bukavu; with an aim to cure survivors of Congo’s epidemic of sexual violence.
- În 2012, in an address at the UN, el a spus-
