A very established philanthropist and the ex-wife of Amazon. Inc founder MacKenzie Scott married again. This time, she ties the knot with Dan Jewett, who is a school teacher in Seattle. As per sources, Jewett teaches in the same school which Scott’s children attend. Ms. Scott and Mr. Bezos went into a legal separation in 2019.
Presently, MacKenzie Scott is one of the wealthiest women on Earth, and her present husband is a science teacher at a private school. They both make for a good match as per closed sources. Considering her current lifestyle and career, Ms. Scott has spent quite an amount of time putting in philanthropist efforts for social causes.
For example, women-led causes, Black educational institutions, and food banks are some of the major projects on which Ms. Scott was working late. According to a post that Scott published on Medium, she has happily donated over $4 billion of her wealth since her divorce from Jeff Bezos in 2019.
A recent post on the Giving Pledge website states Scott’s commitment to donating most of her fortune. The list has names of other billionaires too. As MacKenzie Scott married Dan Jewett, the latter’s consent was essential.
It was good to see that Jewett signed the commitment happily. In a letter, Jewett states that he feels lucky to be with a woman who is so kind and generous. He adds that it is commendable to do what Scott is doing, and he is happy to be part of the journey along with her.
Bezos states he wishes the couple happiness after MacKenzie Scott married again.
On the other hand, Jeff Bezos is all praises for Dan Jewett. He says that the Seattle teacher is a great guy, and he is happy. However, the media could not reach out to Scott and Jewett immediately after the Amazon spokesperson’s comment.
MacKenzie Scott and Jeff Bezos both were students of the Princeton University. They first met during a hedge fund project in New York. Soon, the duo became close to each other, and Scott was the one who helped Bezos start Amazon. Inc in 1994. She also wrote two novels. Scott’s author page now states that she is a resident of Seattle, living with her four children and Dan, her husband.
At the time of his divorce in 2019, Jeff Bezos was the wealthiest man in the world. He was the 16% stake owner of amazon at that time. Scott then becomes a 4% shareholder of the organization as part of the divorce settlement.
Bezos still has the voting rights for the 4% shares. In May 2019, Scott became part of the Giving Pledge May 2019. This was after her divorce terms were final with Jeff Bezos. However, the latter is not a part of the pledge.
Amazon. Inc was a significant beneficiary of the covid-19 pandemic. As a result, the stock prices of the company are constantly rising. On the other hand, Elon Musk becomes a formidable contender for the number one position in the list of wealthiest people.
Still, Bezos successfully retains his position again as per Bloomberg and Forbes records. While he tops the list at $177 billion net worth, his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott stands at number 22 with a net worth of $53 billion.
